6 Year Anniversary

Our Wedding Day
{6.3.2006}

Our 6th Anniversary
{6.3.2012}

We finally celebrated out 6th Anniversary...about a week late on June 9th. I guess that's what happens when you have been married more than 5 years...fit it in where you can! haha
We did special trips for our 1st, 3rd & 5th Anniversary's but the others we just planned to spend an evening out, much like a regular date night. It is still fun & is nice to set aside some time to reflect on the special day when we said 'I do'

Our Wedding day was beautiful! I remember it so well & MOST of the details too. It was a nice warm day & we got married at 2:30 in the afternoon. When we were outside to take pictures it was sunny..when we were inside for the ceremony & reception...it rained. How can that be a beautiful day?

Because God's promise was ALL around us =)

He didn't say marriage would be easy...or that everything would go just like we wanted...but if you put God first in a marriage...that makes all the difference!
I have found in the last 6 years that the man I married is an extremely HARD worker. He is super dependable, takes on a ton of responsibility, not just with our family, but with his immediate family, his job & church. He is reliable & everyone knows they can trust him to do a good job.
He does SO much in a day's time that I cannot even begin to describe it. When he was little...maybe around 4 years old...he would get out his little toy tools & tell people he was going to work! It's been that way ever since.

When we added Greyson to our family this past year, he became a very hands on dad. I didn't think he would...He was nervous about being able to take care of those obligations but when the time came, he jumped right in. It's amazing how much someone can change in an instant once their child is born! He is a wonderful husband & an awesome dad. What more could a girl ask for!?

I am beyond blessed...there really aren't many more words than that. God picked him out for me & the rest is history!
I tried to keep the mushy gushy to a minimum & get my main point across...but on top of all that...I think he's pretty good lookin', a head turner, quite the hottie & handsome...if I do say so myself! =)

Nana's Visit!

My mom...
there are SO many things that I could say about her! She's my best friend, a Godly example of motherhood, gives great advice, is a hard worker, good housekeeper, cook, & now a wonderful Nana to her first grandchild. I could go on & on, but those are some of the things that I think about when it pertains to me. Those things are what I look up to! Of course I could add being a great wife, & putting the Nana thing waaaaaayyyy out there in the future for myself, but I love being around her & I treasure the moments we are together.

The reason for this is...I moved away from home when I was 17. I went to college in south Florida, then worked there until I got married. Since then, I've always lived 13 hours away from HOME. The place where we moved when I was 6 weeks old so my dad could pastor a new church. I grew up there, got married in our church & left behind my wonderful family to start this new one in Alabama.

Each time I am able to see anyone in my family, it is special! They are few & far between, but we try hard to make sure we get together as much as we can.
Since Greyson came along, we have tried to maintain our visits every couple months, so they will get to watch him grow & see the milestones he achieves.

My mom was able to come for a visit during the long Memorial Day weekend. It was last minute, but it was the best "late" Mothers Day gift I could have! I sure missed my dad, but I knew he would not be able to leave his pastoral duties.
She flew in on a Friday afternoon & left on a Tuesday night....it worked out perfectly! Matt was called out to do a job in GA & left Thursday. All of HIS family, including grandparents, his aunt & uncle & older brother, all left to go to Florida for his younger brothers graduation.
They all left....everyone
Just me & Greyson holding down the fort! Until Nana called!! It couldn't have been better. A whole girls weekend just for us! We ate out every day except Sunday...went shopping, got pedicures, & worked on little projects in the house...Not to mention, all the cuddle time & fun we had with Greyson. We also went to a birthday party at the lake, for my good friends baby who turned 1. It was wonderful!

Here are several pictures from our weekend!
At Jace's birthday party!

First taste of ice cream...before anything else!

mmm yummy

Sunday morning after church

Going for a walk!

First bowl of cereal!! I'm so glad she got to be there to experience another one of his "firsts"

Not so much this "first" though....first boo boo on his head =(

Lots of hugs...

More cereal! Yummy!

Projects =)) Curtains that she helped me cut & hem...I'll blog about that here someday when they are finished!

Taking a break from projects to get Greyson down for a nap...

Pedicures!

As you can see...the majority of these photos have NANA in them!! that's because I was taking all of the pictures =) It was so fun to see Greyson love on her & hopefully he remembers his grandparents next time we are home to visit.

5 Months!

I can't believe another month has come & gone. Greyson has learned sooo much in his 5th month! He is almost half a year old...He's a big boy!! His 6 month appointment will be on Monday & we'll find out all his new stats. I just love being his mommy!

Greyson
so far you...

*have gained more weight. You are somewhere around 20 pounds!!!
*are still teething but no little toofies are coming through yet
*still a happy baby & do good for your sitters, but are starting to know when mommy's gone...you get very excited when I come to get you & give me lots of smiles & lean towards me
*blow bubbles when your MAD -- when you aren't mad you use your hand & run your fingers over your lips to make different noises
*stare & notice lots of different things around you...You hold your toys, or anything you pick up & inspect them over & over
*understand our night time routine & do much better sleeping at night because of it
*love all your books & we started reading your baby Bible this month
*get cranky when you are very sleepy & fight it until we put you in your own bed...then you conk out
*wake up once or twice at night but usually can sleep 7 hrs straight
*DO NOT take naps during the day...if you do it's because you are in your car seat...sometimes you surprise us & take one every now & then, but most of the time you don't
*roll over & like to roll on your side to sleep
*sit up a lot better now & can stay like that for a long time! Sometimes you still topple over but then you just stay on your tummy until you get fussy
*got your first boo boo by bumping your head on the counter by the computer. A big knot showed up but there was no blood, just a bruise that stayed on your head for about a week
*started moving around when you are on your tummy. You aren't crawling, or creeping just yet, but  daddy thought I moved you the other day because you inched your way off the play mat!
*chew on everything in site...all your toys & anything you can get your hands on
*still love Mr. Bear & the jumperoo most of all
*feed yourself your bottle most of the time, but you'd rather let us hold it for you...sometimes we have to make you do it =)
*ate cereal for the FIRST time at 5.5 months old! You loved it & you didn't spit any of it out...your swallowing skills were very ready & you didn't have any trouble eating every bite. You got upset when the bowl was empty, so we gave you a little more, but it was your first time so we had to stop
* were excited that Nana came to visit all the way from PA! You gave her lots of sweet hugs & kisses. She fed you ice cream at your buddy's first birthday...you loved it! she spoiled you a lot while she was here but we loved that she got to spend the weekend with us & it was so much fun!
*wear mostly 6-9, 9-12 mo clothes. Daddy put you in 3 mo pants Sunday because they still fit around the waist, but they were way too short so he made cuffs to look like little kapri/shorts...they actually looked kinda cute!
*play very gently with mommy's hair, but pinch & grab our necks or arms...ouch!
*like music, especially when someone is singing then you sing along with them or with us during choir practice at church =)
*TALK all the time! We've had to take you out of church not because you are bad or fussy but because you just blabber on all during the service

What we are looking forward to:

*going out to celebrate Mommy & Daddy's 6th Anniversary tomorrow that was this past Sunday
*Brandon & Richelle's wedding
*Camp Meeting

"Summer" is here!

Anyone who lives in the south knows that "summer" comes early in these parts!
While some states are still experiencing cold snaps & snow...we start having warm weather around the end of February. That month is pretty crazy...cold, warm, cold, hot, cold, warm...snow! You just never know...everyone gets sick during that month too because the weather can't seem to make up its mind.

This year, most places have been having warmer weather sooner & of course in Alabama, our 80+ degree weather has been pretty regular. Greyson LOVES to be outside, so in order to keep him cool this year...we got him his very own swimming pool! Yes, it's just a cheapo plastic one from Walmart, BUT as least I don't have to worry about something poking a hole it in & Matt said he could always use it as a horse trough later...haha...investments!

So, I thought I would share several pictures of Greyson loving this summer weather =)

Our Australian Shepherd, Ginger, meets Greyson!

Ahh...such a hard life...laying out =)

First time in the pool! Not sure what to think yet...he LOVES his bath so being in water outside was new to him.

Just relax...see how nice it is!? =))

Loving it now!! he was quite content with his pool

Trying out the slide...with mommy's help of course!

Wheeeeee!

I think he's quite happy with his new summer "toy" =)

This is the life....

Hope everyone stays cool this summer!! I know we will =))

My 26th Birthday

May 4th, 2012 was my 26th birthday.
I love celebrating birthdays & now that I have Greyson, I am looking forward to planning his very first one. However, now that I'm married & have our little man, it seems more fun just to do something relaxing & not too over the top. On my actual birthday, I just stayed home with Greyson for the majority of the day, then ran out to work for a few minutes to drop some things off & help in the office a little while. The ladies were more than happy to catch up with Greyson & babysat him while I was running around.

Saturday, we went to hang out at a yard sale my inlaws were having at the church. It was nice just to get outside with Greyson & spend some time together with Matt & his parents. They did really good at the sale too! Then we all went out to eat for lunch.

That evening, Matt took me & Greyson out to eat at Red Robin. We had to go to a Men's Warehouse to get Matt measured for Brandon's wedding, so the closest one was about an hour from our house & it's located in a plaza next to Red Robin. It's also right down the road from the hospital where Greyson was born...so at my very last Dr.appt. Matt & I had eaten at Red Robin afterwards, & I delivered our baby boy the very next day. We hadn't been back since, so instead of a big, fancy dinner out, I wanted a burger!

Matt waiting for our food

We split a Banzai burger...it. was. amazing! It has grilled pineapple on it, & the burger is cooked with teriyaki sauce. I also had a side of mac & cheese...yumm!

Greyson having his supper too =)

Red Robin also gave me a complimentary sundae (with sprinkles!) & then I got myself a milkshake too =)

Sunday, Matt's grandparents had us over to their house for my birthday lunch. I had a cake with "6" candles on it...she didn't have 26 haha.

Presents & Greyson having some tummy time

Opening gifts from my inlaws!

G'pa & Greyson

It was a nice birthday [weekend] & I enjoyed celebrating with family!

Also, I just wanted to share a few pictures of my baby boy who is not so little anymore =(
He just makes me laugh!!

playing with his toys & giving me one of those [really? another picture?] looks =)

feeding himself his bottle

I hear thumbsuckers are really good babies =)

That's all for now...I am enjoying this age Greyson is in right now...he seems to be doing something new everyday! It was so special to celebrate my first birthday as a mom...& I love being Greyson's mommy!

4 Months!

It's that time again...another month almost finished. Greyson will be 5 months old in just a few more days!! This past month, we have added LOTS of new milestones to his 4 month age. It is fun to watch him accomplish each thing, but even at 4 months I feel like he shouldn't be doing this much already! I thought 4-5 month olds were still little babies...well maybe some are, but Greyson sure isn't. He is one little chunk & I feel like I should have huge muscles by the time he learns to walk. =)

Greyson
so far you...

*are in the teething stage which means...ouchy!! Your little teefees are trying to come in & you don't like it at all
*are a lot more fussy but only because of teething...you still are a pretty happy baby most of the time
*have definitely found your voice! You not only talk to us, but squeal VERY loudly & sometimes scream at the top of your lungs...just to be heard
*Giggle & laugh at anyone giving you attention
*found your feet awhile ago but are JUST now thinking about putting them in your mouth...its funny to see you grab them but I think they are just a little too chunky to reach all the way to your face
*love your nursery rhyme book & cd...we read & listen to it most nights before bed
*have learned to roll over! You don't do it all the time, but you can...
*can sit up all by yourself. We have to prop you like that, because you still aren't strong enough to get into a sitting position on your own yet
*are having more restless nights from teething...we are trying to get into a routine to help you go longer stretches. It has worked so far so hopefully we can get you back to sleeping through the night
*had your first revival with the Sankey's! You weren't used to being in church every night, but you did pretty good! There were only a couple times when you got too excited & loud that daddy, Gigi or mommy had to take you out. Janet Sankey "babysat" you while we had choir practice one night...you both loved it!
*are able to "tolerate" tummy time a little longer these days. You do great at lifting your head & might be crawling soon =)
*reach for toys to play with during tummy time...you used to just lay there doing pushups until you cried
*have grown tall enough to jump in your jumperoo without having a pillow underneath...you jump SO hard sometimes I feel like you might launch yourself right out of it!
*still love Mr. Bear more than your other toys
*feed yourself when I give you a bottle! You love to get all comfy in bed or on the floor & eat...when your done,  you throw the bottle off to the side & just grin at us =)
*are still exclusively on breast milk so at your dr. appt. you were 17lbs 26in...you are now 27-28in & have probably gained a little more too! you give mommy & daddy a work out!
*wear mostly 6-9 month clothes but sometimes I can still make your 3-6 month clothes fit & we try to get as much wear out of them as possible
*have gotten way more opinionated on your likes & dislikes
*fight sleep during the day, but put yourself to bed at night
*give very slobbery kisses =)

What we are looking forward to:

*Mommys birthday tomorrow because you get to go out w us
*Uncle Brandon & Aunt Richelles wedding in July
*Meeting more family this summer

I'm a CEO!
